A photo story depicting a timeline of Female Homosexuality or Lesbianism in India. According to various religious texts, there are instances of Homosexuality being prevalent in the country during the mythological period, a time when gods and goddesses lived on Earth. The Mughal period witnessed artists creating paintings of women embracing each other sexually and the period in which India was under colonial rule, we witnessed a Hungarian-Indian eminent painter breaking stereotypes through her work. The post colonial period witnessed India’s revolution to fight for the rights of people who identified themselves as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Internsexual or Asexual and finally we have managed to reach where we are today.

This photo story is an attempt to use art as a tool to draw a timeline. It does not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
