“Man, Woman, Other”- How conventional these labels, how controversial and thankfully now, how challenged. The ideals of gender and sexuality we consciously or unconsciously uphold are so entrenched in our psyche due to years worth of repetition, socialisation and internalisation. It is definitely a daunting endeavour to even begin to question these modules for they are the basis of our identity. However, a system so skewed, perpetuating prejudices in theory and in praxis warrants interrogation and a systematic deconstruction, if necessary. Who but the youth of our nation would be so bold as to navigate through the self anxiety to bring about social equality?
